Who We Are
The Respect Lab is co-directed by Remi Labelle-Deraspe, PhD, CHRP, Assistant Professor of Human Resources Management at the School of Business at the Université de Sherbrooke, and Dana Kabat-Farr, PhD, Professor of Management at Dalhousie University.
Co-Direction
Rémi Labelle-Deraspe, PhD, CHRP (He)
Remi Labelle-Deraspe is an Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management at the School of Business at the Université de Sherbrooke. He co-directs the Respect at Work Laboratory (RESPECT Lab). Dr. Labelle-Deraspe completed his Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Québec at Trois-Rivières and conducted postdoctoral research at Dalhousie University. He is also a member of the Certified Human Resources Professionals (CHRP). His research focuses on incivility, respect, sexual and gender harassment, modern forms of discrimination, diversity, and inclusion. He is particularly interested in interventions aimed at countering subtle forms of mistreatment in the workplace. In sum, his work contributes to improving interpersonal relationships and creating healthy, respectful, and inclusive work environments.
Dana Kabat-Farr, PhD (She)
Dana Kabat-Farr is a Professor in the Department of Leadership and Organizations at the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University. She co-directs the Respect at Work Laboratory (RESPECT Lab). Dr. Kabat-Farr completed her PhD in psychology at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on workplace social experiences, both negative (incivility, harassment) and positive (organizational citizenship). In her research, she holds particular expertise in assessing relationships between workgroup "tokenism" and gender harassment, incivility as a form of modern discrimination against women and people of color, and the positive and negative experiences that influence employees' ability to thrive.

Benjamin M. Walsh, PhD (He)
Benjamin M. Walsh is a professor in the Department of Management in the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University. Dr. Walsh received his doctorate in psychology from the University of Connecticut. His research focuses on workplace stress and well-being, with a particular interest in interpersonal mistreatment, including incivility and sexual harassment. In particular, he co-developed the Civility Norms Questionnaire-Brief, a tool used to assess civility norms within work groups.
Cynthia Mathieu, M.Psy., PhD (She)
Cynthia Mathieu is a psychologist and professor of organizational behavior at the Business School of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Dr. Mathieu completed her doctorate in psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal and her postdoctorate at the Institut national de psychiatrie légale le Philippe-Pinel. She is renowned for her research into dark personalities in the workplace, such as narcissists, machiavelliacs and psychopaths. She also works with organizations to improve workplace mental health, leadership and employee selection. Cynthia Mathieu is also the author of "Dark Personalities in the Workplace", published by Elsevier.
Assistants
Malaya-Katsitsanoron Meunier, BAA (She)
Malaya-Katsitsanoron Meunier is a research assistant for the RESPECT Lab. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a specialization in marketing at the School of Business at the Université de Sherbrooke. She is currently a master's candidate in Intervention and Organizational Change at the Université de Sherbrooke and is writing her intervention thesis on civility in higher education, under the supervision of Dr. Rémi Labelle-Deraspe, the professor responsible for the respect intervention project.
